When Doug Crapp-Abbey learns an impostor has stolen his late brother's fortune, he takes as consolation a box of bananas, an old teddy bear, a pair of old cowboy boots, and perhaps most importantly, an old journal. Little does he know, these meagre possessions are about to spark the most thrilling adventure of his life, to the heart of rural Italy.
Jewel Box is a comedy "meal" with many ingredients - a dollop of TinTin, a dash of Indiana Jones, and a pinch of something "completely different". As much inspired by adventure comics, as it is by Italian slapstick, the play tells the tale of Doug Crapp-Abbey, a small-time accountant and an unlikely hero, who seems content to let the hip and happening seventies pass him by. However, when Doug discovers that an impostor has stolen his brother's fortune he is catapulted into a race to not only solve the identity of the impostor, but also to find perhaps the most valuable gemstone on Earth.
Original comedy theatre in English (with Czech surtitles).
